Krush Puppies share new single 'Why' A taste of what to expect in new E.P 'Love Kills The Demons'

Words by Ursa Gregson

Krush Puppies have released new single 'Why' ahead of their debut EP 'Love Kills The Demons'.

'Why' is a sparse and gorgeous pop-dirge on the subject of damaging, all-consuming past relationships, and the relief of letting them go

The space allowed each other by band members Alexa Daly, Jenny Wells, Jess McGill and Heather Britton is the sweetest touch to the way this single sounds; the ethereal, almost choral shades to the vocal performances (and the subtle clarity of the lead) complement the gaze-inspired guitars and funereal yet pop-sensible rhythm. The song structure - even with doom-y spoken word section, a gamble that often falls short in 2022's saturated post-punk hinterland but here pays off - is unpretentious and well-paced.

The video, shot and edited by David Luke-Rees, befits the tune satisfyingly, a perfectly-matched and hauntingly pretty Bergman-style piece of deep shadows and brilliant highlights.

'Love Kills The Demons' will be out on 6th May on Sports Team's Holm Front Records. Krush Puppies will celebrate the release with a headline show at London's Moth Club on 17th June 2022.
