J Mahon shares fuzz-pop gem ‘Gold States’

Today, whilst also starting his 8-date nationwide tour, J Mahon shares fuzz-pop reflections on delusional adolescence with new single 'Gold States'

The Berlin-via-Queensland singer/songwriter's latest single, 'Gold States,' intricately weaves together an unattainable paradise with a touch of melancholic, deadpan irony. The lo-fi crackles, driving acoustic guitars, ghostly bell chimes, and melotron hums create a captivating sonic landscape.

"It seemed like everyone I knew had some kind of identity and a certain trajectory to their life - but I felt like a kind of chameleon - J Mahon" - J Mahon

Mahon's song-smithery, reminiscent of Sparklehorse and Sufjan Stevens, effortlessly guides the track with fragile charm, mirroring the very ideals it explores. A compelling blend of musical elements, 'Gold States' is a journey through a dreamscape that resonates long after the final note fades.

Mahon Describes Gold States as "loosely based on growing up in North Queensland, Australia. This idea of wanting something greater than I had and if I had just found this special ‘Gold State’ than everything in my life would make sense and I would be who I was meant to be."
