Blitz Playhouse perform hypnosis upon their latest single ‘Ha Ha Ha’s’

Words by Otis Hayes

Having released their eclectic debut EP, ‘Behind The Veil’ earlier in the year,  Blitz Playhouse continue to produce deeply enchanting music with their latest single entitled, ‘Ha Ha Ha’s’. Produced by the London based group’s own bassist Joshua Woolf at SFJ Studios in Hackney, the track feels as though it's swaying a pocket watch back and forth before your dilated eyes with its deeply hypnotic rhythm.

Bass and drums begin in unison with beguiling character before the sound of drifting feedback slowly bleeds into a psychedelic guitar riff inspired by lead singer Bella Geiwald’s Persian roots. Geiwald’s lyrics themselves touch upon the hardships faced by creative people in today's societies and the mental health struggles which can often come hand in hand when trying to blend the creative with the practical. Adding to the entirety of ‘Ha Ha Ha’s’ trance inducing quality, Geiwald sings and at points cackles with bewitching melodies that feel as though they could cause a sudden bout of flashbacks upon the listener.

The four-piece band's chemistry is robust with their dynamic songwriting able to generate powerful atmosphere and imagery within their music. Recorded in just half a day, ‘Ha Ha Ha’s’ follows suit conjuring up images of a mirage. As promising as a sheet of water's gentle flow in the wind upon dry and barren desert sand, Blitz Playhouse are certainly an upcoming group to keep an eye firmly fixed upon.
